Ronald Lum, Jr., Esq.

With over 17 years of experience, Ron has extensive knowledge of real estate, business/corporate and general transactional matters, and has assisted a variety of clients — Fortune 500 companies, individuals, developers, landowners, and financing parties — navigate the complexities of transacting business in Hawaii. Ron can offer clients the expertise of a large law firm trained attorney with the benefits of direct personal service and the flexibility clients would expect from a solo law practice.

Prior to his lengthy tenure in private practice, Ron clerked for the Honorable Barry M. Kurren, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii and served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the University of Hawaii Law Review. Finally, because Ron is interested in all aspects of a real estate transaction, he is also a licensed broker.

REAL ESTATE

  • Represented sellers and buyers in the purchase and sale of residential and commercial properties, including hotels, shopping centers, office buildings, and vacant land.
  • Represented landlords and tenants in the leasing of offices, industrial spaces, agricultural and vacant lands, and residential spaces.
  • Represented lenders and borrowers in commercial, construction, tax equity, traditional financing, and other financing transactions.
  • Represented developers of affordable housing projects, large master planned mixed used communities, and utility scale and commercial scale renewable energy projects.
  • Represented owners and developers in the creation and registration of condominiums.
  • Worked on other general real estate matters such as grants of easement, licenses, subdivision, land use, and entitlements.

  • Represented clients from formation to dissolution of corporations, partnerships, joint ventures, and limited liability companies.

Ronald Lum, Sr.

For 32 years, Ronald was an attorney in one of the largest law firms in Hawaii.  His  practice  concentrated on real estate, financing and business areas.  A sampling of the projects and developments he participated in during his lengthy career include the following:

  • Hyatt Regency Poipu Bay Resort
  • Poipu Bay Golf Course
  • Waikoloa Village and Waikoloa Beach Resort
  • Hyatt Regency Waikoloa Village Hotel (now Hilton Waikoloa Village)
  • Waikele Shopping Center
  • Grosvenor Center Towers  (now Pacific Guardian Center)
  • Kaanapali Royal Condominium, Kaanapali Beach, Maui
  • Hilo Coast Processing Company (a former sugar processing company in Hilo)
  • Ainamalu Development (PUD on slopes of Diamond Head)
  • Pacific Transfer and Warehouse (commercial moving/transportation company)

Ronald retired from his law firm and the practice of law in 2000 and placed his Hawaii attorney license on an in-active status.  However, Ronald continues to be actively involved in owning, operating, buying and selling commercial and residential properties in Hawaii and holds a Hawaii Real Estate Brokerage License that he obtained in 1989.
